C++ software engineer

Beamr is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team and help optimizing of video processing tools. This is a position with our optimization team in Saint-Petersburg (Russia), working with video processing and compression R&D team. We strive to provide an energetic atmosphere that encourages the free exchange of ideas and opinions with a focus on professional growth.

Responsibilities of the position
  • Develop and support components for media data (video, audio, text and more) processing.
  • Implementation of standards for compression, muxing and packetization of the media data.
Requirements of the position
  • Degree in computer science.
  • Interest and experience with media processing technologies.
  • Fluency in C/C++ (C++11).
  • Basic knowledge of Python.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and commitments in a fast paced environment.
  • Good English level writing with ability to read technical literature and large volumes of technical papers.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with media processing tools: FFMpeg, Intel Media SDK, OpenCV.
  • Familiarity with video and audio compression standards: H.262, H.264, HEVC, VP9, AV1, AAC, AC3, EAC3.
  • Familiarity with media containers: MPEG-2 TS, MPEG-4 ISOBMFF, Matroska.

QA Engineer (Junior)

We are expanding the QA team in Saint Petersburg Russia with the position of QA Engineer (Junior). We’re looking for a talented QA Engineer to join our team and to participate in our rigorous testing process as a part of software release cycle. Responsibilities of the position
  • Participation in testing of video preprocessing, analysis and compression software.
  • Analysis of visual quality, performance, efficiency and other aspects of video compression software.
  • Manual and automated testing in accordance with provided test-plans.
  • Test scripts development.
  • Test status analysis and results reporting.
  • Software defects submit via bug tracking system.
Requirements of the position
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in mathematics or computer science.
  • Advanced computer user with knowledge of different operating systems (Windows, Linux, MacOS).
  • Ability to work with command line interface tools including simple shell scripting (cmd, bash, FAR, Total Commander, etc.)
  • Knowledge of software development fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience in programming on languages like Python, Perl, C, C++ and so on, including university projects.
  • English on Intermediate or higher level.
